This Privacy Policy explains how ScanPDF Converter Scanner OCR ("ScanPDF OCR," "the App," "we," "us," or "our") accesses, collects, uses, shares, stores and protects information when you use our Android application.

1. Information We Access or Collect
We collect or access information only as needed to provide the features you choose to use.
1.1 Documents and Files
When you use document reading, scanning, OCR, PDF creation, PDF editing, file conversion, split, merge, lock or unlock features, the App may access files that you select, including PDF, Word, Excel, PPT, TXT, image files and web page URLs.
The content of files you choose may include personal information depending on what is inside your documents. You are responsible for choosing which files to process.
1.2 Camera and Photos
If you use the scanner feature, the App may request access to your camera to capture document images.
If you import images or create PDFs from pictures, the App may request access to photos, images or media files that you select.
1.3 OCR and Conversion Content
When you use OCR, AI-assisted text extraction, table recognition, document reconstruction or advanced file conversion, the App may process the selected file content to generate the requested output.
Some processing may happen on your device. Some advanced conversion, OCR or AI-assisted features may require uploading the selected files or extracted content to our servers or service providers for temporary processing.
1.4 Technical and Usage Information
We may collect limited technical information needed to operate, secure, maintain and improve the App, such as app version, device type, operating system version, feature usage, crash information, diagnostic logs, IP address and approximate network information.
1.5 Communications
If you contact us for support or feedback, we may collect your email address and the information you provide in your message.
1.6 Information We Do Not Collect
The App does not include advertising SDKs, does not show ads, does not offer subscriptions, and does not process payment card information.
The App does not require account registration for the core features described in this policy.
2. How We Use Information
We use information for the following purposes:
- To provide PDF reading, document scanning, OCR, file conversion, PDF creation and PDF editing features;
- To generate, save, export and share files requested by you;
- To improve OCR, text extraction, table recognition and document reconstruction results;
- To troubleshoot errors, prevent abuse, protect security and maintain service reliability;
- To respond to support requests and feedback;
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and policies.
We do not sell your personal or sensitive user data.
3. Local Processing and Cloud Processing
Many actions may be performed locally on your device where technically possible.
Some features, especially advanced file conversion, AI-assisted OCR, table recognition and document reconstruction, may require cloud processing. When cloud processing is used, only the files or content needed to perform the feature you request are uploaded for that purpose.
You should not upload highly sensitive documents unless you are comfortable with them being processed for the requested feature.
4. Permissions
The App may request permissions only when needed for a feature:
- Camera: to scan paper documents;
- Photos, images or media: to import pictures and create PDFs;
- Files and documents: to open, convert, edit, save and share files;
- Network access: to provide cloud processing, OCR, conversion, service communication, support links and Google Play related features.
You can manage app permissions in your device settings. Some features may not work if required permissions are disabled.
5. Secret Space
The App may provide a Secret Space feature that lets you protect selected in-app files with a local password.
The Secret Space password is used for local access control on your device. We do not use it for account recovery. If you forget the password, access to files protected by Secret Space may be limited according to the App's local rules.
Secret Space is designed as an in-app private space and local password protection feature. It should not be understood as a guarantee of bank-grade encryption or protection against all forms of device compromise.
6. How We Share Information
We may share information only in the following limited situations:
- Service providers: with vendors that help provide OCR, AI processing, file conversion, hosting, diagnostics, security, support or similar services;
- User-directed sharing: when you choose to export, save, share or send a file to another app or person;
- Legal and safety reasons: when required by law, legal process, government request, or to protect rights, safety, security and integrity;
- Business transfer: if the App or related business is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization or asset transfer, with appropriate notice where required.
We require service providers to process information only for the services they provide to us and to protect information appropriately.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Files selected for conversion, OCR or cloud processing are retained only for the time reasonably necessary to provide the requested feature, maintain security, troubleshoot errors, comply with law, or resolve disputes.
Where technically possible, temporary processing files are deleted after the requested processing is completed or after a limited operational retention period.
Files stored locally in the App remain on your device unless you delete them, move them, uninstall the App, clear app data, or use another system action that removes them.
Support emails and related communications may be retained as needed to respond to requests, maintain records and comply with legal obligations.
You may request deletion of personal information by contacting us at [email protected]. We may need to retain certain information when required by law, security, fraud prevention or legitimate operational needs.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including secure transmission where information is sent over a network and access controls for systems that process user data.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Processing
Your information may be processed in countries or regions other than where you live. Data protection laws in those locations may differ from the laws in your jurisdiction. When required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
10. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal information, or to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

You can also:
- Manage permissions in your device settings;
- Delete files from within the App where supported;
- Delete local app data through your device settings;
- Uninstall the App.
11. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
12. Third-Party Links and Services
The App may include links to third-party websites, app stores, support pages or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties.
13. Data Safety and App Store Disclosures
We aim to keep our Google Play Data safety section and this Privacy Policy accurate and consistent. If there is a material change to how the App collects, uses, shares or protects data, we will update the applicable disclosures.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated policy will show a new effective date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice where required.
